Having grown up in a family that belonged in Jehovah’s Witness organization, I could relate to Hebrews. The book was written to the Jewish Christians who have accepted Christ then were persuaded to go back to practicing the Law. JW taught, yes, Jesus died for our sins, but we have to live a perfect sinless life before God will save us. No. No. No. The only thing that is required of us for our salvation is faith. But HE gives us a new heart and HIS spirit when he saves us, enabling us to live a godly life and that is what makes Jesus’ sacrifice and the new covenant a GREATER SALVATION. The book also absolutely convinced me without a doubt of the supremacy of Jesus Christ and that HE is God. While this seems like a no-brainer to most Christians, it was a big deal for me, a former JW. In talking about Jesus, chapter one quote verses from Psalm and the Psalm leave no doubt that the writer was referring to Jehovah God. According to the Bible, Jesus is Jehovah God. More knowledge is no good, unless we allow what we learned to change us. What I learned about Jesus through the study of Hebrews made me fall in love with my savior. At the time, I was living through a very unhappy time in my marriage. I stayed in that marriage because I loved Jesus. And over time, God taught me to love. HE changed my heart.
